The salt laden air on the exposed
peninsula of Kintyre adds an extra dimension to these lightly
peated malts which have a unique regional flavour close to the
Islay style. Once the greatest whisky town in the mid 19th century,
Campbeltown could lay claim to being Scotland’s whisky capital.
At one time more than 21 distilleries existed when illicit distillation
was rife. Two distilleries in operation today –Springbank
and Glen Scotia.
