Edradour 27 Year Old - Highlands Whisky
46% alc.vol (US 92% proof)
The Gaelic name "Edred dobhar" translates to "stream of King Edred". Located in the hills above Pitlochry it is the last original 'farm' distillery in Perthshire. Edradour utilises a Mash Tun with one ton capacity. Distilled with lightly peated local barley, it producs in a year, with 3 men, what some distilleries produces in a week ! Until the Kilchoman distillery recently opened on Islay, Edradour was Scotland’s smallest distillery. Traditionally, Edradour was matured in ex-oloroso sherry casks and its style showed a smoky, fruity aroma with a spicy, sweet flavour.
Tasting Notes:
A stunning integration of peat smoke and sweetness of the oak. Gentle ‘peat’ notes on the nose, confirm marine influences.Toffee apples, lemon rind, passion fruit and maple syrup. This fruity, slightly smoky Malt has merged well with the aged oak.Beautifully complimented by the soft fruits. Well developed.
