Springbank 30 Year Old - Campbeltown Whisky
46% alc.vol (US 92% proof)
Located on the eastern shores of the Mull of Kintyre, Springbank sees the whole process of whisky production taking places at the distillery. From malting its own barley, peat is cut by distillery staff, malt is dried on the kilning floor and the whisky is matured and bottled on-site. Water is sourced from the Crosshill Loch. Springbank is often said to have a briny quality. This characteristic involves a smoky, woody aroma and a flavour profile that hints of peat and other coastal influences. Develops beautifully to a full, well-balanced and creamy finish.
Tasting Note:
An exciting salty nose with cookie like maltiness. Hint of banana. Full, rounded palate with bags of personality and citrus fruits giving an acidic zestiness. Some apricot-like sherry character. Spice and oak add to the overall briny quality. Smoky dry finish with salty sweet notes. Robust. Best enjoyed neat.
